700 Patients Receive Free Health Care

Hundreds of people received free health care today. It's all part of the annual Texas Mission of Mercy. The event is held at the Youth With A Mission ranch near Lindale and it attracted people from here all the way to Georgia and Florida.

Most of the patients needed dental care: cleaning, extracting, repairing, and replacing. Some people also received medical care, eye care, and women's diagnostics. All were grateful to the volunteers and missionaries for making this event possible.

"I appreciate them a whole lot," David Miller, a dental patient from Tyler, said. "I mean, what they're doing is really, really great."

"I can't talk right now," Danny Dennis, a dental patient from Tyler, whose mouth was numb, said. "I couldn't have got it done otherwise, so I'm very happy and very, very thankful."

Clowns, musicians, and other performers kept patients entertained while they waited. The entertainers are missionaries with YWAM, whose goal is to spread the Christian message.

The Mission of Mercy says it can no longer take dental patients. However, people can still receive medical, women's diagnostics and eye care.

More than 1,500 people were turned away yesterday, seeking dental care.
