WEB EXCLUSIVE: Hundreds run in stilettos for cancer research

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Hundreds of people showed up in South Park Saturday, sporting stilettos and ready to face the chilly temperatures and cloudy skies.

They were out for the Second Annual Stiletto Sprint. The event raises money for research at Charlotte's Levine Cancer Institute.

Doctors wore wigs while teams of survivors and their supporters wore the heels. The group raised $80,000 for research and programs for woman in the Charlotte region.

Research shows one in 70 women will develop cancer of the ovary. Ovarian cancer is often called the cancer that whispers because the symptoms are undiagnosed until later in life.
