Developers Sue Land Commissioner

Two land developers, who questioned the ownership of more than 4,000 acres of land, are now suing the general land commissioner for ruling against them.

The William King survey was done in 1838 for acreage in southern Upshur county covering most of which is now East Mountain.

W.L. Dixon and Barton McDonald claimed that survey had errors and that the people living on the land didn't really own it.

Back in January land commissioner Jerry Patterson ruled that the William King survey was valid. The lawsuit against Patterson was filed in Gilmer and will likely be heard in a Texarkana appeals court.
