Texas Mission Of Mercy Comes Back To East Texas

It's a program that's already helped thousands, now it's coming back to East Texas.

The program is called the Texas Mission of Mercy and so far it's helped over 1,500 East Texans receive healthcare free of charge. From root canals to eye exams and overall health check-ups hundreds of doctors have volunteered their services over the past two years to help out.

Everyone qualifies, but organizers say they target those who have neglected their health because they simply cannot afford treatment. Along with the two clinics held in Tyler, three other Texas cities have hosted the clinics.

Tyler dentist Dr. David Nichols helps to organize the clinics, he said pre-screening this year means even more people will get help.

"We took patients that were sent to us from Salvation Army, Women's, infants and children, PATH and other organizations," he said "We saw about a 160 so we have already examined their mouth, done their medical history and have them ready to receive care."

Dr. Nichols hopes to treat about 1,200 people this year. The free clinic will be held next Friday and Saturday, April 23nd and 24th out at the "Youth With a Mission" campus in Lindale.

The clinic opens at 7:30 in the morning. For more information click on the link below
