Hawkins Man Charged With Indecency With A Child

In the tiny community of Hawkins, the mother of a two-and-a-half year old boy is outraged that her child was allegedly victimized by someone she trusted to take care of him. A Hawkins man has been arrested and charged with indecency with a child, over an incident where he allegedly victimized one of the children he cared for in his home.

Enough evidence was gathered to charge Ronny Hukill, a city water works employee, with indecency with a child. Hawkins police say Hukill and his wife had been taking in neighborhood children in their home in make-shift babysitting work, when around March 16th an area mother complained that her son had been a victim of indecency. The mother of the child says her child was examined by the family doctor who said the child shows signs of suffering sexual abuse as well.

The mother is angry that her trust was betrayed. "Well,  I was still in denial. I was shocked, I was devastated. I trusted these people."

She went on to say, "I'd like justice to be done, and no other parent to go through what we've had to go through."

"Right now, we're in the middle of the investigation, we did have enough probable cause to get a warrant and effect an arrest," says Hawkins police chief Ron Voda.

Hukill has bonded out of jail and the investigation to see whether there may be other children involved in this is ongoing.

C.P.S. has removed all children that were being cared for at the home. Part of Hukill's bond was that he have no contact with any children while the case is under investigation.
