East Texas Solider Laid To Rest

"Michael, I will miss you dearly son, but I know you were doing what you wanted to do. And I know you loved me and I loved you."

Today Kim Sine had to say goodbye to her some.

23 year old Specialist Michael Karr Jr. always wanted to be a solider. His mother says he wanted to fight for freedom.

"He believed in what he was doing. He believed in what President Bush was asking him to do," Ms. Sine says.

8 days ago, Specialist Karr made the ultimate sacrifice for his country while serving in Iraq.

"Out in the desert we know soldier die every day. But a solider has a responsibility and obligation. It doesn't come from command -- it comes from within," says Captain David Foster of the 470th Military Intelligence group.

Everyone who knew Michael says he was fulfilling his life-long dream.

His success made all of Mt. Vernon very proud, and his sacrifice will not be soon forgotten.
