TJC soccer celebrates the 'Big Ten'

Just call them the big ten.  TJC women's soccer celebrated a special group of sophomores on Tuesday.  Ten members the 2011 national championship team signed with four year schools.  It's a group that went a combined 41 and 1 in two seasons with TJC.  They reached two national championship games.

"It brings great pride," said Chandler Murphy.  "To accomplish something like this is like walking around the world and coming back in one day. I just can't explain it."

Murphy and teammate April Goodman became the first TJC women's soccer players to sign with UT Tyler.  Eight other teammates will also continue their dream as college soccer players.

"It's a new feeling for me because it's my first big class I'm sending off," said TJC head coach Corey Rose.  "It's very rewarding. The championships are great and good recognition for the school. At the end of the day it's the academics and it's moving them on to get their degree that's best for them."

The John Tyler Lions always seem to look sharp in their uniforms. But thanks to East Texas lawyer Keith Miller, the Lions will look better and play safer. Helmets that advertise lowering the impact of hits, and possibly reduce the amount of concussions, come with a hefty price-tag.
