Special Easter Egg Hunt

The Easter Bunny made an early trip to East Texas. Today was the Tenth Annual Tyler Jaycees Easter Egg Hunt at Bergfeld Park in Tyler.

It's a special event for visually impaired and special needs children. Beeping eggs are hidden around the park to help the children locate them. Channel 7's Mark Scirto and Gillian Sheridan along with Marie Biggs, KLTV's Executive Producer, also helped out. They were blindfolded to better understand what it's like for the visually impaired children.

"It is so fun. You can't believe that I have so many eggs like this," says Shane with a basket full of eggs.

This Easter Egg Hunt is a day the kids look forward to all year. "This is the one day that I hope we give them to run and to play where those titles or stigmas are not attached. They can just come and have a blast," says Kristy Hachtel, chair of the event.

After the hunt, everyone was treated to a story by two adorable little girls reading Braille. About 100 children from all over East Texas came out to the park today to hunt for eggs.

There were several sponsors of the egg hunt, including DeHaven Eye Clinic who donated $500 to purchase new beeping eggs.
