Miranda moves on...

We hope you enjoyed your sunny weekend!

Here's some of what we're working on for you this afternoon:

We just got more detailed information about why Miranda Lambert has chosen to take "Cause for the Paws" out of East Texas, and where she's chosen to have it, instead. We've got the details for you on our website; click here to check it out.

A judge has denied bond for a nurse accused of fatally shooting a young mother in suburban Houston to kidnap the woman's newborn son. A few more details have been released in a story that sounds more like a movie plot than reality. We'll share that at 5, and you can read the back story here at our website.

The man charged in the death of Trayvon Martin left a Seminole County, Florida, jail just after midnight Sunday. That's not the only new development in this controversial case; the police chief who first worked the investigation has resigned. KLTV's Bethany Moore will fill you in at 5.

Also at 5, Dr. Ed Dominguez will join us to discuss new findings that a breast cancer gene in their family lineage may lead to the development of prostate cancer in men.

At 6, our Samantha Jordan will share with you the experience she had today as East Texans joined together to honor the memory of U.S. Army Sergeant Tanner Higgins, who was killed in Afghanistan last week. As the hearse containing his remains passed, the crowd reacted with support and gratitude, and we'll show you that coming up.

And students and parents, a bit of news that  may affect your bank accounts in the years to come. The interest rate on a popular, federally subsidized student loan will double this July; that is, unless Congress acts fast to kill a bill that will bring this to pass. If the bill passes, the interest rate would double from 3.4 to 6.8 percent. Check out that story as Jena Johnson explains, tonight at 6.

We'll see you soon!

Man accused of assaulting brother over (if you can believe it) cheeseburgers. Guess he was really hungry. Check out the story here.
