WEB EXCLUSIVE: Police officer delivers baby in car

STREETSBORO, OH (WOIO) - A Streetsboro police officer helps deliver a baby in a car on Friday night.

Shortly after 9PM, Streetsboro Police received a call from a frantic motorist saying that her passenger was pregnant and it appeared the baby was about to be born.

The dispatcher told the driver to stop the car at the nearest safe location and he would send an ambulance.  The driver was able to stop the car at Classic Honda just off SR14.

Streetsboro Police Officer Josh Bartholomew located the car in the Honda lot. When he walked up to the car, he found 26-year-old Patricia Osborne giving birth and the baby was partially out.  Ptl Bartholomew assisted with the birth as the baby finished coming out.

Ptl Bartholomew noticed that the baby was not breathing and was able to remove the umbilical cord from the baby's neck allowing the baby to start breathing.

The Streetsboro Fire Department arrived on scene and took over the treatment of Osborne and the child. Both were transported to Robinson Memorial Hospital where both were doing fine.
