Letourneau Wins Collegiate Invention Contest

An East Texas college has walked away with another honor in a prestigious collegiate competition. Remote controlled cars that go over barriers and retrieve simulated mines, all within a 3 minute time limit, was the focus at Letourneau university of a unique competition.

It was a collegiate regional invention contest at Letourneau university in Longview. The school played host to the imagination of the future. In what could have military applications, students designed units that could go over barriers and retrieve simulated mines.

Teams from Rice, Texas A & M, Tulane and even several Mexican universities competed. The competition was taken seriously by all students. Letourneau had won the last 5 regionals in a row, and they came in first again in this competition.
