New Texas State Parks Pass Provides Free Entry, Many Extras

Visitors heading to Texas State Parks this spring will be greeted with banners, posters and park employees displaying the slogan, "All the Parks.... Extra Perks". It's all part of a large campaign to promote The Texas Parks & Wildlife's new Texas State Parks Pass.  For $60, you get free entry to all 120 state parks and historic sites for members and their guests, camping discounts and other benefits, for an entire year.  Besides being a $3 Million boost to the state's parks, park officials say, it's a great boost for frequent park users.

"We're charging $3 per person, for those age 14 to 65, and so if you got three people, you spent $9 coming into the park just to go to the swimming beach," said Tyler State Park Manager Bill Smart.  "Well, if you do that six times, you spent $54, and so the pass is going to cost you $60. You've got it good for a whole year, and not just at Tyler State Park, but all the state parks."

The Texas State Parks Pass can be purchased at all 120 Texas state parks and historic sites, including Tyler State Park.
