Person of interest in murder case pleads not guilty to other charges

LAWRENCEBURG, IN (FOX19) -
The person of interest in the murder of an Aurora woman entered a not guilty plea to separate charges in a Boone County courtroom Monday morning.

Charles "Stevie" Stephenson, of Walton, who is just out of the hospital, is charged with Tampering with Evidence and Trafficking in Controlled Substances, 1st Degree, 1st Offense.

He is being held on a $50,000 bond, an amount which the jail says was set before the arrest.

Earlier Friday, Dearborn County Prosecutor Aaron Negangard released more details in the death of a 67-year-old Indiana woman.

Leigh Jennings' body was found on April 5 in her Aurora home.

Police say Jennings had actually been killed days before, on March 29.

Prosecutor Negangard confirmed that the Boone County Sheriff's Office and the Boone County Commonwealth Attorney's Office are involved in the investigation.

The prosecutor did not confirm if Charles "Stevie" Stephenson is the suspect.

Stephenson was friends with Jennings and was the nephew of Boone County unsolved murder victims, Bill and Peggy Stephenson.
