Words of advice on balancing work, family, and church

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

It's a constant battle women face everyday, juggling and balancing your work, church and family life.

On Wednesday, LeTourneau University got to hear from a successful woman who helps lead and support professional Christian women to reach their potential.

Marty Lane, Director of Event Services at LeTourneau University says picking and choosing what she does with her free time makes all the difference.

"I spend a lot of time trying to balance the things that I have to do, with spending time with the kids," said Lane.

Diane Paddison spoke Wednesday at LeTourneau about balancing a career with your personal life.

"Women have a tendency to combine their life wherever you go, so whether you're at work your thinking about your family, if you're at home, you're thinking about your work," said Paddison.

Paddison says setting priorities from the beginning will help when you come to crossroads in your life. Her first priority is God.

"When I had the opportunity to go out on my own and do what I wanted to do, it was definitely going to be the core of what I was doing," said Paddison.

As a mother of four children, spirituality is something Lane practices weekly.

"That's not something that's an option, if we get up on Sunday morning and we don't feel like going to church, it doesn't matter, church is priority," said Lane.

Trusting in the Lord is what Lane strives for everyday, but she also manages to get her work done, and raise her children.

"My relationship with God and my relationship with my family are more important than anything else in my life. So, I want to make sure I really pay attention to those things," said Lane.

Paddison is the author of Work, Love, Pray. In this book she gives advice to women around the world, using her personal experience and success throughout the book.
