Davenport replaces Strawn in all star game

Azalea Orthopedic New Release

Brian Davenport, West Rusk girls basketball coach will head up the East Team at the Azalea Orthopedic All-star Basketball games April 14, 2012 at the Wagstaff Gymnasium on the Tyler Junior College campus.

"We are excited that Coach Davenport has stepped in to lead the East Team. He has 104 wins in his career and has done a great job coaching his girls to the playoffs, said Dan Fuller, Azalea Orthopedics Event Chair.

Coach Greg Strawn voluntarily stepped down after being suspended from coaching duties at Lindale High School. "Although I am honored, I just did not want to be a distraction to the girls or the games, this is about their achievements. I am proud of all the girls who made the teams and I will be cheering them on, "said Coach Strawn.

Doors open at 5:00 p.m. April 14. The girl's game time is slated for 5:30 p.m. with the boy's game to follow. Ticket prices are $6.00 for adult and $3.00 for children under the age of 10.

All proceeds from the All-Star game are donated to the Bethesda Clinic.
