Crews determining how many tornadoes touched down in ETX

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

The National Weather Service is in East Texas surveying the damage from a possible tornado in Hopkins County.

Surveyors are also checking out the Mt. Pleasant and Talco areas, but so far, they say they have not found any evidence of tornado damage.

That's right so far they have not found any storm damage in the Mt. Pleasant, Talco and Mt. Vernon area. They say even though they may find a couple of branches on the ground it's possibility it was caused by the strong winds.

Meteorologist Chris Nuttall with the National Weather Service says there has been no signs of storm damage, just a couple of fallen branches which he says is good indication that a tornado never touched down in the area.

Nuttall says the people of Mt. Pleasant and Talco were very fortunate this time.

The NWS says they will survey into the evening Wednesday, before heading back. They said most likely they will rule this as a no tornado.

The NWS is expected to finish their reports Wednesday night.
