Forney tornado destruction, the day after

FORNEY, TX (KLTV) - The EF-3 tornado that tore through one subdivision of Forney, Texas has left massive debris behind. But, officials tell us today, every resident has been accounted for.

Not one, but two tornadoes ripped up the Diamond Creek subdivision in north Forney just off highway 80.

Through the course of the day Wednesday much has been done to help clean up the damage. Volunteers and home owners have been hard at work trying to pick up the mess the tornado left behind. There are still crews, some of them who have been working for many hours already, cleaning up a storm they say was like nothing they've seen before.

Mayor Rozell said us that Forney ISD is working around the clock to repair Crosby Elementary.

It was the only school damaged by the tornado and should be back in business by next week. The Mayor says those students who attend school there will be off until Monday.

Smith County Red Cross has also sent a crew to help those affected by the tornadoes in the Dallas area. They said they've been feeding volunteers, home owners and those assessing the damage all day Wednesday.
