Longview Receives Award For Best Tasting Water

One East Texas city has the best water in the state. The Cherokee Water Treatment Plant in Longview won the top prize from the Water Utilities Association earlier this month. But there are two other city water sources in the city. Can you really taste the difference? We took that challenge to the streets.

We set up shop outside Skinner's grocery store in Longview to find out if East Texans agreed with the judges. But before the taste test begins, I'll go ahead and let you in on the secret. In cooler number one is our winner- Lake Cherokee. Cooler number two is from the Sabine. In number three is the city's newest water plant, Lake O' The Pines.

In the end, only three out of the 10 people we spoke with chose Lake Cherokee as their favorite water.

So who in Longview gets the award winning water? The water department says that's difficult to say. Residents north of Hawkins Parkway get their water from Lake O' The Pines. After that it's a mixture between the Sabine and Cherokee.

This is the fifth time Longview has won the award.
