WEB EXCLUSIVE: Barking dogs saves neighbors life

ALBANY, GA - We're continuing to follow breaking news about a house fire in Albany. The homeowner did make it out safely and credits an unlikely noise to the reason why he's alive.

Oscar Robinson who lives at 511 North Jackson said the neighbors barking dog saved his life. Robinson said that's what woke him up.

The fire started right outside his bedroom on the back porch just before 4am. He heard the neighbors barking poodles, looked out the window and saw flames.

Robinson said he grabbed his clothes and ran out the front door. Firefighters were called and had the fire under control in 20 minutes.

They had to perform an overhaul to put out several hot spots on the roof. Albany Police blocked off the corner of North Jackson and West Tift to help the fire department.

Robinson says luck had nothing to do with his life being spared. "No luck was involved, I'm blessed. I came out the room and saw lights. The house was suppose to be black. I ran and got my clothes and went outside," said Homeowner Oscar Robinson.

He believes a faulty wire in the breaker box caused the fire. Firefighters are conducting their own investigation to see what happened.

We will keep following this story throughout the day to find out what firefighters conclude.
