TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Friday night, the John Tyler Lions baseball team did something that has not happened in more than 8 years.
They won a district baseball game.
Their 7-6 win over Marshall was JT's first district win since 2004, snapping a 128 game district losing streak.
"It was an amazing feeling," said senior Robert Garcia, "We had been close all season, but errors had cost us runs. But we put it together, worked hard and came out with the win."
Loss #129 seemed inevitable, the Lions were trailing 6-1 entering the final inning before rallying for 6 runs to win the game.
"To have made history it feels good that I was a part of this team," said senior Cesar Flores, "To change this baseball team, I really thought we were going to get it done this year. We were going to get a win."
"We buy into whatever Coach Pierce says because we trust him. We knew it was going to the sooner or later," said senior Devonte Jones, "In a lot of game we are down in points are up in points by a little bit. We never quit and never die and that's what CUJO is about."
