Pink slime outrage closes slime factories

We hope you enjoyed your weekend and are having a great Monday!

Here's a sampling of what we're working on for you today in the KLTV newsroom:

You might have heard of "pink slime" by now; we've been sharing details about it on KLTV.com, and there's more today. This beef filler is sparking outrage in the food industry and now it's causing some plants to temporarily close their doors. Check in with us at 5 for the latest on this slimy food additive and what it means for your child's next trip through the cafeteria line.

As you know, today the Supreme Court heard the first of three sessions of oral arguments in the challenge to President Obama's health care law. The Affordable Care Act is the signature legislation of his administration and the most controversial. KLTV's Bethany Moore has the latest at 5 on the Supreme Court's task: to answer the question, "Is the Obama Administration's health insurance mandate constitutional, and if so, what does that mean for the rest of the law?"

Rallies are taking place around the country today, as activists continue to push for an arrest in the shooting death of Florida teen Trayvon Martin who was killed one month ago by a neighborhood watch volunteer who claims self-defense in the murder. KLTV's Anissa Centers will have more on that for you at 5.

At 6, our Melanie Torre will have the update from Cherokee county authorities who share with her what really happened last night when a train was reported to have left the trainyard unmanned, traveling seven miles before stopping. Check in with Melanie for that.

Also, you may have noticed as you've driven down Grande in Tyler that there are shiny bags of some sort, just lying along the roadway in the gutters. We wanted to know what in the world they were, so we sent photojournalist Jamey Boyum to find out. He'll bring you that tonight at 6.

Remember that you can join us tonight at 5 and 6 as we livestream on KLTV.com. Don't miss Joe, Anissa, Jennifer and Mark as they bring you the very latest news and weather information that you need to know. Just click on the LIVE link at the top of the homepage at the beginning of the newscast.

We'll see you soon!
