Poster contest could net your high school senior a scholarship

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - State Representative Leo Berman (R-Tyler) is teaming up with the Texas Hospitality Association (THA) toa statewide poster contest that will award a total of $10,000 in educational scholarships to four 2012 high school graduating seniors. fight underage drinking and to promote alcohol responsibility through

THA will award a $5,000 scholarship to the Texas high school senior who designs and submits the best poster conveying the message or theme: "If you are under 21, it's illegal to consume or purchase alcoholic beverages in Texas."  A $2,500 scholarship will be given to second place, a $1,500 scholarship will go to third place, and a $1,000 scholarship will go to fourth place.  The winning posters will be used in a statewide campaign to promote alcohol responsibility in Texas.

"We are very excited about involving Texas high school seniors in developing a message that will combat underage drinking in their age group and reminds all Texans of the need for alcohol awareness," said Rep. Berman.

The contest is open to all 2012 Texas high school seniors.  Artwork must be an original design and may be computer or electronically generated, hand drawn, or photographed.

Students have until May 4 to submit their poster to THA.
