Azalea Trail Brings In Crowd

A light bloom didn't keep folks away from the Azalea and Spring Flower Trail Saturday. A nice crowd showed up for the opening day of the Trail's opening weekend. The Trail runs through April 4th.

The show has become a big time event for the City of Tyler, attracting more than 100,000 visitors annually and pumping more than $2.5 million in to the local economy.

The trail has grown over the last 45 years starting with a group of neighbors showing off their gardens. Now the trail stretches 8 miles and covers much of what is considered the Azalea District.

The City has also used the event to showcase other events, holding an arts and crafts fair each year and a historic home tour during the second weekend.
