"Huey" Hits Tyler

A blast from the past could be seen and heard at Tyler Pounds Regional Airport this afternoon. It's a Vietnam era "Huey" helicopter. The chopper is owned by Brian Pardo. The Vietnam Veteran flew it to Tyler from Waco, to be interviewed by TJC for the ongoing Library of Congress' Veteran's History Project. This being the one year anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq, Pardo also gave his thoughts on the current war.

"Until we beat the war on terrorism. Until we win that war, which I'm afraid is going to be a much longer war than Vietnam, we're not safe, and we're not going to be safe," said Pardo. "They're not going to stop. So, we have no alternative. We have to do what we're doing right now."

Pardo says he's a big supporter of the Veteran's History Project. The ongoing project is supported locally by TJC's Scholar's Honor Students.
