Group Encourages Residents To Stand Up To Insurance Companies

Texas homeowners have been overcharged by nearly $300 million. That's according to Texas Watch, a statewide consumer advocacy group. They've joined forces with the AARP to help educate residents on their insurance rights. They claim, Texans currently pay the highest premiums in the nation, and despite passage of an insurance reform bill last year, rates continue to climb for many Texas families.

"We need to pass true insurance reform that protects everday Texans, not the insurance industry," said Texas Watch Executive Director Dan Lambe, "because bottom line,  Texans are paying more and getting less for their insurance dollar. It's time we held the insurance industry accountable."

Texas Watch also encourages residents to shop around for their homeowner's insurance to find the best rates.
