Rain to blame for Brownsboro wreck involving septic truck

The intersection of Highway 31 and FM 314 was backed up for at least an hour this morning.

Authorities say a female driver in a van was traveling westbound on Highway 31. The driver initially failed to stop at the intersection when the light turned red, but quickly slammed on her brakes.

But, with the rainy conditions...she slid and crashed into the septic truck.

"It was raining pretty hard at that time. There was a lot of water on the highway and when she applied her brakes, she did start to slide," said Danny Ford with the Brownsboro Police Department.

The driver of the van was taken to ETMC with minor injuries. The driver of the truck was not injured.

A few miles east, drivers in Chandler were having a difficult time getting around town, as well.

Several inches of water blanketed the roads due to rain runoff from nearby neighborhoods.

Authorities urge drivers to be extra careful in adverse conditions.
