How many of you are rowing home instead of driving home tonight?

We hope this rainy, blustery day has been a good one for you!

Here's some of what we're working on for you in the KLTV newsroom this afternoon:

Obviously, weather is on most everyone's mind today. We certainly needed the rain, but now we are dealing with some road closures and flooded yards and driveways; many of you have sent in pictures of what you're seeing across ETX and we've put them all into a slideshow, which you can click here to view.  (If you're viewing this email on your mobile device, click on this link instead to view the slideshow.)

We have also posted a list of current road closures across East Texas; check back often for updates as roads are re-opened or new closures are announced.

There have also been reports of fires having been started by lightning strikes today. For example, just before 11 a.m. a house on Yazmeen Circle in Flint  caught fire when lightning struck its roof. KLTV's Melanie Torre was there as fire crews rushed to keep the fire from destroying the whole home, and she'll share that with you tonight at 5.

There have been quite a few accidents today, as well, and thankfully most of them did not end tragically. For example, an 18-wheeler hydroplaned off of highway 69 near loop 323 in Tyler this morning; check out the details at,  and tune in at 5 for more details on this and other accidents, including two that, we are sorry to report, ended tragically.

In other news, we'll tell you about the 7.6 magnitude earthquake that hit Mexico City today; we have video footage from the Univision offices in Mexico City and we'll share that with you at 5, and let you know the latest on the situation there.

At 6 we'll let you know the details we've been told today about a teenager who is accused of burning a church outside of Marshall last month. The 17-year old was booked into the Harrison County jail on arson charges. More on that coming up.

Please join us as we fill you in on the latest on these and many other stories at 5 and 6; remember that we will also livestream our newscasts at 5 and 6 on Just look for the "live" banner at the top of the homepage as the newscasts begin.

Be safe out there on our slippery ETX roads, everyone, and slow it down.

We'll see you soon!
