Metro Chamber Awards Banquet

The Tyler Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce held their Annual Heritage Business Dinner and awards ceremony tonight at 7 p.m.. 

More than 150 East Texans packed the Tyler Rose Center banquet hall to honor local business owners that are bettering the community through their business. 

The theme of the evening was "The Road to Change," and those who attended were able to enjoy a dinner and hear  guest speaker Edward Baxter of Bois D'Arc Partners speak.

Tyler Mayor Barbara Bass was Also there and briefly welcomed guests and thanked the business owners for all they do to help Tyler economy.  

The evening ended with the awards ceremony, which consisted of nine categories with two nominees each. 

Nominee Archie Smith of S & S Select Choice Vend, win or lose, it's just an honor to be recognized. 

"Just the idea of people looking into my business to see exactly what I do and how I do it, I appreciate it," Smith said.

The Ernest Sterling Award: A Philip Randolph Institute

The Hattie Wright New Business Award: Crimson Door

Community Re-Investment Award: Lee's Construction

The Ernest Dekard Community Image Award: (Tie) Gamma omicron Omega Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and Tyler Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. 

Pillar of the Community Business Award: Cole Enterprises/Club Skyy Social Club

The Community Ambassador Award: Clifton Roberson

Sibbie Jones-Waits Community Service Award: LaQueta Timmons
