Sleepy driver at the wheel lands his truck upside down in a ditch

ANGELINA CO., TX (KTRE) - A mid-morning accident Monday left two people shaken but wide awake after the driver fell asleep behind the wheel.

According to DPS investigators, Ron Prelow was driving east on Highway 7 when he fell asleep at the wheel.  Investigators said his vehicle crossed both lanes of traffic before he woke up.  Prelow tried to bring the vehicle under control but overcorrected.  The truck overturned and landed upside down in a ditch.

Prelow and his passenger, Moriel Williams, were both taken to Memorial Hospital in Nacogdoches with what appeared to be minor injuries.

Troopers believe they had worked a nightshift in Bryan and were searching for a gas station to stop and rest when the accident happened shortly before 9:30.  DPS and a Nacogdoches fire and rescue crew responded to the scene.
