CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) - Crockett Police arrested two men Thursday afternoon after an officer walked in on a dog fight at a residence.

Sgt. Doug King said the county's animal control officer received a notice of dog fighting on Runnels Street and an officer answered the call.

King said the officer arrived as two pitbulls were fighting with people watching and two men were trying to break them up.

After investigating the incident, the officer arrested Tevin Jones, 19, and Nigel McCullough, 21, on charges of dog fighting, a state jail felony.

Police also seized three pitbull puppies and six adult pitbulls and took them to a vet clinic to be treated. King said none appeared to be seriously injured. The future of the dogs will be determined at a judicial hearing on Monday.
