LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

On Wednesday, March 7, a DPS trooper responded to a wreck on SH 135 in reference to a two-vehicle crash.

At the crash site, Trooper Dillard approached Ronald Moore, driver of a 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck that was involved in the crash. The trooper said he noticed a strong alcohol smell on Moore, and also noticed that Moore's eyes were bloodshot and his speech slurred.

When Dillard asked if he had been drinking, Moore said that he had consumed one beer, but refused to perform a sobriety test. He then confessed that he was intoxicated and might as well be taken to jail, according to Trooper Dillard.

The trooper said he then utilized a portable breathalyzer and the results indicated that Moore was intoxicated, with a blood alcohol level of .208.

Moore was then placed under arrest and was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview. He was medically cleared for transport to Gregg County jail, where records show that he was booked in for DWI-3rd or more.

Results of blood tests done at Good Shepherd are pending, according to the arrest report.
