Proposed Tyler projects funded by half-cent sales tax now under consideration

TYLER, TX (KLTV) -
Wednesday was the last public meeting for Tyler residents to suggest half-cent sales tax funded projects.

The city of Tyler has collected half-cent sales tax revenue since 1995. We are told the city generates more than eleven million a year to fund improvement projects around the city.

"For example, Earl Campbell Parkway is a fourteen million dollar project that we have going on right now and it's a page as you go program there's no bonding there's no debt so once the project is done it's free and clear and it's ours," explained the City Engineer Carter Delleny.

The city will determine which projects can be completed based on the yearly revenue and expected expenditures.
