Henderson Food Bank restocked after KLTV showed empty shelves

HENDERSON, TX (KLTV) -

Less than a month ago, the Henderson Food Bank consisted of mostly empty shelves. But now those shelves are stocked full of food.

"This was only after y'all aired our story about our shelves being empty. So y'all have really turned everything around and I want to thank you," said Henderson Food Bank Director Patsy Louviere.

She says people have been donating food and money ever since the previous story aired in February.

Ken Wyvill comes to the food bank every few weeks. The last time he came to shop, the shelves were empty. But the situation is now drastically different.

"My eyes widened up like saucers. I was completely blown away. I couldn't believe how much food I saw on these shelves," Wyvill told us.

But the work is far from over. The food bank needs consistent donations to keep up with demand. Workers with the food bank encourage residents to keep donating.

The Henderson Food Bank is also in need of a new air conditioner to help keep the food fresh during the summer months.
