Gift of Love: Johney

Picking out his very own stuffed animal at Build-a-Bear Workshop is one of Johney's most favorite things to do.  He couldn't resist this little guy.

"Alvin the Chipmunk," Johney said.

And this 7 year old loves how his new chipmunk talks.

"He talks and he sings a song," Johney said.

Johney is a very energetic and happy child. This first grader is affectionate and loves to give hugs. Johney also likes to have fun.

"Playing games," Johney said.

"He likes to play with legos. He loves to color and draw. He likes to watch cartoons. He's really big into super heroes, Spiderman and Batman. He likes to play outside," Adoption worker Emily Lipe said.

Like most kids his age, Johney loves to watch cartoons.  His favorite is "Scooby Doo," Johney said.

As for school, Johney likes making friends.

"He gets along with the kids at school. He's very social and friendly. He has a lot of friends at school," Lipe said.

Johney is struggling with his grades and will need extra help.

"He is speech delayed. He is currently receiving speech therapy twice a week," Lipe said.

As for his future, Johney hopes to help others.

"Cop. And why do you want to be a cop? Because. So I can help," Johney said.

But first, he needs a forever family, to help him through childhood.  Johney also has an older brother who he would like to stay in touch with through visits, telephone calls, cards, and pictures.
"A two parent family with a mom and a dad where he has brothers and other siblings so he'll have someone to play with," Lipe said.
A family that can make sure Johney knows he is safe and his needs will be met. And more importantly show Johney the Gift of Love. If you'd like to know more about Johney call our Gift of Love hotline, toll-free, 1-888-KIDS-275.
