Ore City Reacts to Residents Homicide

A small East Texas community tries to come to grips with the senseless killing of one of their own. For people of Ore city the news that the body of one of their own residents was found in a pond earlier this week, has shaken their community.

"Makes me want to keep my kids locked inside in my house and not go anywhere too," says area resident Billie Malota.

Two bodies were found at a pond north of Gilmer on Wednesday, and police say they were weighted down.  The case is ruled a double homicide.  One of the bodies was identified as 44-year-old Keith Allen Crutcher of Ore city.

"Makes you worry about who you trust, I mean now look out for yourself," says resident Jerry Qualls.

Crutcher was an antiques dealer, and many say he was a quiet friendly sort.

"Its a big shock you know, living in a small town like this, the guy was quiet he sold antiques and its just a big shock in a small town," said area businessman Lee Hill.

Crutchers missing truck was found Friday on Highway 300 near Longview, and police are still looking for suspects. Funeral services for Crutcher are scheduled for 1:30 Monday at Coffeeville cemetery.
