Dr. DeHaven has been a part of DeHaven Eye Clinic since long before he became a surgeon. And as a long-time resident of East Texas, he has a particular concern for his neighbors throughout the area. That’s why he has focused on providing the best eye surgery possible,

Dr. Thomas DeHaven joined DeHaven Eye Clinic in 1989, and today serves as Chief

of Surgery. He is Board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and the American Board of Eye Surgeons. He has broad surgical experience, including refractive eye surgery, laser vision correction, cataract extraction, and intraocular lens implantation.

Dr. DeHaven is a 1977 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, a 1981 graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and a 1985 graduate of the University of Southwestern Medial School. Prior to his graduation from medical school, he was selected to remain at Southwestern Medical School University as a resident in the Department of Ophthalmology where he served at Parkland Memorial Hospital and the VA Medical Center in Dallas.

Dr. DeHaven is a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary Medical Society. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Board of Eye Surgery, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, American Medical Association, Texas Ophthalmological Association, Texas Medical Association, Smith County Medical Society, and Refractive Surgery Interest Group. He is affiliated with Trinity Mother Frances Health System, East Texas Medical Center , Parkland Hospital , and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School where he is an affiliate professor.
