Home Products Show Hits Tyler

Vendors take you from planning and design to installation and building. You can find things for every room in your home and outside, too. We followed Tyler couple, Ricardo and Shirley Ortiz, as they made their way through the showroom floor.

"I'm just here because my wife told me I have to be here," Ricardo said.

"We're in the process of either remodeling totally or buying a new home," Shirley said. "We haven't made up our minds which. The beautiful glass doors -- I think they're gorgeous."

"She likes the doors," Ricardo said. "I like the appliances."

Appliances, not a problem.

Whirlpool makes one of the hottest new kitchen appliances. It's an oven-refrigerator combination. Now you can cook your dinner, keep it cool while you're out, and then come home and reheat it. Now, that can free up some fridge space.

"To see all the various things that you can do to improve your home, it's wonderful," Shirley said.

"The insulation one I like the best," Ricardo said. "The foam 'cause it's real thin and it builds up. That is insulation."

You'll also find some high-tech gadgets, like power tools, a home entertainment system, or an underground setup to conserve energy.

Proceeds from the Home Products Show go toward the Make-a-Wish Foundation and the Tyler Area Builders Association's scholarship fund. You have all weekend to check it out. It's at the Harvey Convention Center in Tyler. The show continues Sunday afternoon from 1 to 5 p.m. Tickets are $3 for adults, $1 for kids 12 and under.
