NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) – A Lufkin couple on their way to the hospital in Nacogdoches for the birth of their first child did not make it soon enough.

Hospital officials say last Friday shortly after noon April Bourghs went into labor with rapidly increasing contractions.  Her husband, Joseph, was driving them from Lufkin to Nacogdoches when her water broke just south of Nacogdoches, near Woodland Hills Golf Course.

Rushing up Highway 59 towards the hospital, they were forced to pull over into the parking lot of Cook's Tire and Service Center.  That is where baby Justice Blake made her arrival.  The baby girl was born before her dad could stop, get out and to the passenger side of the truck to help his wife, according to Debbie Stevens, Marketing Services Manager, Nacogdoches Medical Center.

Justice was born weighing 7 lbs., ¼ oz.  She is 19 ½" long.  Once she was safely secured, the couple continued to Nacogdoches Medical Center's emergency room for an examination.  Everyone is said to be doing well.
