CINCINNATI, OHIO, 2012 – In response to the tornadoes that swept through the Greater Cincinnati-Dayton Region Friday afternoon, the American Red Cross has opened 3 shelters in Northern Kentucky, eastern Indiana and southwestern Ohio to provide safe refuge for residents forced to evacuate their homes due to the severe damage and power outages.
The shelter locations are:
Grant County High School, 715 Warsaw Road, Dry Ridge, KY
South Ripley High School, 207 W. Tyson Street, Versailles, IN
New Richmond High School, 1131 Bethel-New Richmond Road, New Richmond, OH
These shelters are open now and will stay open as long as needed. Families are advised to bring along basic emergency and personal items that can help them through the first 24 hours, including any necessary medications. In addition to sheltering and meals, nurses and mental health professionals will be available for consultation.
Additionally, Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicles are deployed in Clermont County serving Bethel, Felicity and Moscow, two around Piner, and one in Grant County near Grant County High School in Dry Ridge.
