Martin's Mill loses in state championship game

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Danielle Logan scored 36 points as Sudan defeated Martin's Mill 70-40 for the UIL Class 1A Division 1 state girls basketball championship.

Logan, named the championship game MVP, added five rebounds as Sudan finished the season at 34-3 with its second championship since 2009.

Bailey Black added 16 points while Jasmine Weaver finished with 14 points and 16 boards for the victorious Nettes.

Sudan outscored Martin's Mill 21-10 in the second quarter to break a 16-16 tie and take control of the contest.

Hailey Jenkins led Martin's Mill (36-5) with 16 points while Cheyenne Brown added 10. Meagan Weatherford had 10 rebounds for Martin's Mill (36-5) in the Mustangs' seventh consecutive state tournament appearance.

Martin's Mill won the championship in 2008 by beating Sudan 48-43.
