LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

Late Thursday night, Longview Police officers were dispatched to the scene of an accident involving a drunk driver and a Longview Police cruiser.

The collision occurred near the intersection of Green Street and East Tyler Street in Longview.

According to officials, a white female, identified as Lucinda Sanchez, 30, of Longview, rear-ended Officer Whitlock's patrol car, which was stopped at red light.

In the arrest warrant, Whitlock stated he smelled alcohol on Sanchez's breath, and that her eyes were glossy and bloodshot.

Sanchez told Whitlock she had consumed a few sips of a margarita several hours beforehand, and that she normally takes hydrocodone, but hadn't taken any that evening.

After performing a field sobriety test, Whitlock concluded Sanchez was drunk, and she was subsequently arrested and charged with DWI.

Authorities say there was an eight-pack of Bud Light, 16-ounce cans, with three missing, and a vodka bottle only a third full-- all of which was within Sanchez's reach and in plain view.

Sanchez has two prior DWI convictions.

Sanchez is in custody of the Gregg County Jail, where she is held on $21,000 bond.

The John Tyler Lions always seem to look sharp in their uniforms. But thanks to East Texas lawyer Keith Miller, the Lions will look better and play safer. Helmets that advertise lowering the impact of hits, and possibly reduce the amount of concussions, come with a hefty price-tag. Miller's donation of 7,500 dollars, will go to help the lions cover that cost. "Keith Miller's been a big sponsor of John Tyler High School football program for years now.  I know it's...More >>
