Edgewood girls fall in state semifinals

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Ashley Fuller scored 25 points as Poth defeated Edgewood 81-55 in the Class 2A state basketball semifinals.

Micah Weaver added 19 points and 12 rebounds on Friday for Poth. The game was close early as Edgewood tied the score at 26 on a 3-point shot by Susan Agesen with 5:06 left in the first half. Poth answered with a 44-11 scoring run to lead 70-37 after three quarters.

Chandler Short led Edgewood with 16 points while Agesen had 15 points and nine rebounds. Micah Brown collected eight boards.  Poth, making their eighth appearances in the past nine tournaments, improved to 29-8. Poth advances to the championship game against three-time defending champion Brock. Poth has two state titles, most recently in 2007. Edgewood closed the season at 31-7.
