MLB likely to add playoff teams before opening day

The 2012 Major League Baseball season is less than a month away.  The MLB still doesn't know how many teams will make the playoffs.  That could change soon.  It appears the MLB will add one wild card team for both the American League and National League.  The new playoff system would make the wildcard teams face off in a one game playoff.  The winner would advance to the divisional round.  It will make it much tougher for a wild card to win the World Series.  The Cardinals were a wild card team last year, shocking the baseball world all the way to a series win over the Rangers.  I think it's a good idea.  It all but assures the Rangers of making the playoffs.  But if the Rangers want to make a third straight World Series appearance, they better win the division.

An Orthodox Jewish high school in Texas has been granted a temporary restraining order, and will be able to compete at state.  Click here for more.

Congrats to the Martin's Mill girls basketball team.  The Lady Mustangs have advanced to the 1A Division One state championship game in Austin.  Martin's Mill beat Kerens this morning 71 to 52.  I'll have highlights tonight on your KLTV News at ten.

Have a great day,

Ryan Peterson
