CPS takes custody of child severely burned in bath tub

TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

Last Tuesday, Tyler Police responded to a residence on Aberdeen Drive to assist EMS on an injury to a child incident.

Police say a two-year-old girl had been severely burned on the bottom of her feet from hot water in the bath tub.

The girl was taken to ETMC, where she was referred to Parkland Hospital in Dallas to treat her burns. Child Protective Services says that child was discharged from the hospital Tuesday.

CPS was contacted to initiate an investigation, and has taken custody of the little girl and her siblings. "All three children have been placed in traditional foster care," says CPS spokesperson Shari Pulliam.

"The children are all safe and protected," says Pulliam. Pulliam says the CPS investigation can take up to 60 days to complete.

Tyler Police Investigators are also looking into the facts and circumstances in this case to determine whether or not foul play is involved. They say no charges have been filed.

Authorities say the girl's adoptive parents were home at the time of the incident.
