40 lbs of cocaine discovered during traffic stop on I-20

Authorities seize 40 pounds of cocaine during a routine traffic stop on I-20 in Gregg County.

Just before 9 a.m., Monday, a DPS trooper pulled over a vehicle traveling eastbound in I-20. After noticing distinct nervousness from the driver and passengers the trooper became suspicious. Following consent to search the vehicle, the trooper discovered 24 bundles of cocaine concealed in a rear compartment of the vehicle. Along with the 40 pounds of cocaine, marijuana was also discovered. The driver of the vehicle, 48-year-old Vickie Ann Watts, of Statesboro, Georgia, claimed responsibility for the cocaine.

Her passenger, 52-year-old Herman Rainy, of Newark, New Jersey admitted to possession of the pot. Both were arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
