Lindale dedicates new baseball field

Lindale ISD dedicated it's new baseball stadium Monday night.  It was the first chance for fans to see the varsity baseball team play on the new field.  According to Lindale ISD, the infield features the only Hellas Maxtrix artificial playing surface in East Texas.

New baseball and softball fields were constructed, while the existing fields were turned into practice fields.  Construction cost $3.6 million.  Work began in June of last year.

"We had a great vision," said Lindale ISD Superintendent Stan Surratt.  "It turned out better than we ever could of imagined. It's such a wonderful venue and we're excited to get started. Extremely proud and it's a great day for Lindale athletics and the Lindale community. We can't be more happy with our baseball complex than we are."

The new fields have enclosed bullpens, batting cages, new lighting, scoreboards and new dressing facilities. A new concession stand overlooks both fields.  There's also covered seating and a new sound system.

The softball field is scheduled to be dedicated on Tuesday night.
