Stabbed E. Texas student doesn't intend to press charges

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - An East Texas high school senior says he does not want to press charges against the classmate he says stabbed him on a school bus.

This doesn't mean the 18-year-old Douglass High School student, accused in the stabbing, is not facing some serious consequences.

Douglass is northwest of Nacogdoches, and we're told authorities there are gathering evidence in the event the case goes before a grand jury

The stabbing happened as the students were heading back to school on a bus following a field trip.

The victim says he and the accused attacker were joking around, when the victim said something the other student didn't like.  That's when the victim says the other student pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the leg.

Stabbing victim Dustin Honea says, "He pulled a knife out and cut me a few times. I don't know if he even knew he stabbed me, but I told him, 'You stabbed me.' I looked at my leg and I had a big cut about an inch wide and two inches long."

The injury required five staples, but Honea says he does not want to file charges. So far, none have been filed.

The accused student was suspended.
