Body found in Red River identified as missing ETX boater

ELM GROVE, LA (KSLA) - Remains found Friday morning near the entrance to River Bend Marina are those of a missing East Texas fisherman, missing since a boating accident on the Red River two weeks ago.

Bossier Parish Coroner John Chandler confirms the remains are those of Dan Stanley, 63.

Stanley and his cousin were thrown overboard when their fishing boat hit some rocks near the South Bossier Parish Marina on February 8th. 64-year-old Jerry Smith suffered a head injury and hypothermia. He was released from the hospital four days later.

LA Wildlife and Fisheries had been actively searching for Stanley's body, using cadaver dogs and sonar equipment, with assistance from local sheriff's departments. But it was Caddo Parish Lt. Donna Jackson, out on the river conducting patrols for the Bassmaster Classic, that spotted the remains around 10:00  a.m.
