Tyler doctor among 58 disciplined by Texas Medical Board

TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

A Tyler doctor has been disciplined by the Texas Medical Board for a second time in a year.

The Texas Medical Board found that Dr. Anton Lester was operating an unlicensed pharmacy, prescribing "dangerous" drugs or controlled substances without first establishing a "proper professional relationship" with the patient.

The report also stated Lester failed to adequately supervise physician extenders, such as nurse practitioners and physician assistants, and distributed drugs to a patient without collecting a fee.

Lester is required to pass the Medical Jurisprudence Exam, complete 10 hours of CME in risk management and pay an administrative penalty of $2,000.

The Texas Medical Board also entered into an agreed order with the late pop superstar Michael Jackson's personal physician, Conrad Murray. The board suspended Murray's license after the initial felony conviction in the state of California.
