DIBOLL, Texas (KTRE) - Three men were arrested Tuesday night after two Diboll men, one a 96-year-old, managed to stop their burglary spree, according to Diboll Police.

Det. Norman Williams said Officer Ray Anthony and Sgt. Steve Baker were dispatched to the 700 block of Booker Street around 9 p.m. When they arrived, they saw a man had apprehended one suspect. A person was in the yard and pointing at a pickup which was leaving the scene.

Williams said the officers managed to stop the vehicle and apprehend the other suspect and begin investigating the case.

Through the investigation, the officers learned the three men, identified as Kevin Ray Cook, 18, of Lufkin; Joseph Ledoux, 18, of Diboll; and Faustino Villela, 18, of Diboll, had burglarized a car and a residence and stolen various items, Williams said.

Cook then tried to force himself into the home of a 96-year-old man and his wife, but the man was able to keep him from getting in the house. The neighor eventually apprehended Cook, despite Cook trying to stab him with a screwdriver, Williams said.

The officers arrested Cook on charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, burglary of habitation, burglary of a vehicle and theft. Ledoux is charged with burglary of a habitation, burglary of a vehicle and possession of marijuana. Villela is charged with burglary of a habitation.

Williams said more charges are pending, as police believe they uncovered more stolen items.
